Damaged teeth sometimes need to be removed to prevent potential infection and damage to other teeth and surrounding tissue. When having an extraction, today's modern procedures and follow up care are here for your benefit and comfort.
To make your recovery easier
If you need an extraction, we will first numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, to ease your recovery:
- Avoid anything that might prevent normal healing.
- Don’t smoke or rinse your mouth vigorously.
- Avoid drinking through a straw for 24 hours.
- For the first few days, if you must rinse, rinse your mouth gently.
- If you experience swelling, apply a cold cloth or an ice bag and call us right away.
- Follow the diet that we suggest for you.
